Candy Apples...

These are a great fall treat.. I cant think of Fall or Halloween without thinking of these....

 Candy Apples..

12 apples (medium) any kind
2 cups sugar
1 cup of light corn syrup
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon food coloring

Wash apples and dry. Place pop cycle stick in top of apples.
In a sauce pan combine sugar, corn syrup and water. Cook over medium heat until it is boiling. Stirring constantly with a wooden spoon to dissolve sugar. This will take about 5 minutes. Clip candy thermometer on side of pan. Cook until temperature reaches 290 degrees. This will take about 20 to 25 minutes. Watch closely it can scorch easy. Take thermometer out and add food coloring and stir. Dip apples and place on wax paper to dry. You can use different color food coloring and even flavorings. Mom uses cinnamon usually. We have even made them orange for Halloween..
